1968 USRRC
It's the first day of practice at the 1968 USRRC and Skip Scott's Simoniz Special Lola T70 3B is wheeled to pit out. Scott won the race, ran out of gas during cool down lap and had to hitch a ride with second place finisher Chuck Parsons. Note Shelby pace car. Scoops were way cool in 1968!
Douglas Mesney Gallery - '66 '67 '68
Douglas Mesney was perhaps the most creative racing photographer working in the 1960s and Bridgehampton fired his imagination.
Says Mesney, who was on assignment for Car and Driver: "I had so much competition for the "normal" shots, that I went out to look for "other perspectives!"
The result: these beautiful, dreamlike images. To acquire prints of these classic shots, please visit Douglas at Incredibleimages.com
